Off to Las Vegas in November

Virgin HolidaysYay! We managed to earn enough Virgin Flying Club Points to buy ourselves one free flight to Vegas! And with a bit of scrimping and saving and less impulse-buying in the supermarket, the other flight has been secured too – so Vegas, here we come! I can’t wait!

We’ve been to Las Vegas with Virgin Holidays before and stayed at The Venetian. We absolutely loved it and I swear our suite (Yup it’s an all-suite hotel!) was bigger than the entire downstairs of our house!) One of the brilliant things about staying there and flying with Virgin was that on check-out day, we were able to go straight to the Virgin desk in the hotel and check our bags in for the flight home and get our boarding cards. It meant that we didn’t have to worry about taking our cases to the airport and all the usual airport hassle was taken out of the equation. 5 Stars Virgin for such a brilliant idea!

Las Vegas signDon’t know where we’re staying yet -  we’ve only booked the flights so far. Last time we booked the whole holiday through Virgin  although to be honest looking at just the hotels on the Virgin site , it looks like we’ll be booking through them anyway as their prices are really competitive.  One of the things we have already booked though is Afternoon Tea at the Mandarin Oriental. Apparently it’s right up on the 23rd floor so I hope we get a window seat because the views over The Strip are going to be pretty spectacular from up there.

We’re also planning to go and see the Cirque de Soleil LOVE show which will no doubt involve lots of tumbling, leaping around and incredible dancing both up in the air and down on the ground – not by me I hasten to add. In LOVE, Cirque de Soleil are celebrating the music of The Beatles so before we even go through the door, we know the music is going to be good! The show is on at The Mirage so we’ll just have to go and have one of the potent and oh so very good cocktails in The Rhumbar before we go in. We may as well make a night of it – needless to say, not in a ‘Harry-gate’ way though!

Virgin Holidays Sri Lanka

Kalutara BeachThe Royal Palms Hotel in Kalutara, Sri Lanka!  Great hotel, lovely location, fantastic food, brilliant staff and to top it all, perfect holiday weather.

We are definitely going back! Do I need to say more?

Our Holiday in Sri Lanka was booked through Virgin Holidays!

(I’ll write a proper blog once I’ve caught up on my work!)

Viva Las Vegas

We’re off to Vegas in October with Virgin Holidays and can’t wait. You have no idea how much, I am looking forward to it. We’ve been a few times now and each time has been unique. Las Vegas StripOne of our visits was marred horribly by a severe episode of flu which left me incapacitated during our visit and resulted in me having some kind of ‘post-viral syndrome’ for years afterwards. In fact I am genuinely still suffering from the after-effects. Mr. C got away with his ‘fluey-virus’ relatively easily and was only ill for a month!!

Working for ourselves means that we have always remained in email contact with the office on holidays hence we find it difficult to switch off. This time however, we have promised ourselves that we are going to ‘delegate’ and have a ‘complete break’.

This time too we are going for complete 5 Star luxury and are staying at The Venetian where apparently all the rooms are suites and look amazing. We’re going for a very self-indulgent week instead of the usual couple of days so we’ll be spending a bit more time in the room probably and will no doubt get to enjoy living the life of Riley (whoever he is).

Flying with Virgin means we get plenty of legroom and as a bonus for booking a Platinum Hotel, we also get access to The VRoom at Gatwickthe oasis which is the VRoom (Virgin’s super-duperlounge). Once the necessary look around the shops is done, there’ll be no more hanging around a crowded terminal for us. We’ll be chilling, reading complimentary newspapers and indulging in a free breakfast too!

We are thinking of doing a Show when we’re there although most of the ones that’ve shortlisted are the expensive ones so that idea might come to nothing. Will keep you posted on that. We saw Celine Dion a few years  back. It was a fantastic show and yes her voice was/is incredible and the set was something else blahdeblahdeblah …… BUT she must have told us she lurved us all after and before every song. It was really grating after a while and in the break, I was kind of wishing she’d adopt a more misanthropic style by the second half.

Anyway holiday daydreaming over for now and back to work…….. (otherwise there’ll be no dollars for The Strip!)
