Comvita Radiance Plus Moisturiser – Brilliant Stuff!

Comvita Radiance Plus Moisturiser is a really lovely moisturiser which you’re meant to use at night after cleansing and toning.

I’ve never been one for toning so Comvita Radiance Plus Moisturiserin my case I use it after taking my make-up off every night. I haven’t tried using it in the daytime yet but I’m tempted to, as it doesn’t seem at all greasy to me like many of the night-time creams and it really does make my skin look good. It’s meant to reveal ‘a brighter, more translucent complexion’ and although I’m not entirely sure about the ‘translucent’ bit, my skin does feel a bit brighter.

The Radiance Plus Moisturiser contains Comvita®’s clinically researched HUNI®XA Manuka honey. This weird & wonderful ingredient apparently supports the skin’s natural elasticity and can help to delay the signs of ageing. Well it would be wonderful if it did live up to its claim but I personally don’t take the blurbs and claims on any beauty products’ packaging all that seriously. I know I like this moisturiser and I don’t really know why. It sinks in well, has a lovely texture, smells good and seems to do the business. MyPure where I bought this moisturiser, always has really good offers and bonus products when you buy, so it’s defintely worth taking a look

What more can I say except don’t forget that everything sold by mypure is sulfate free, paraben free & phthalate free. And we all love beauty products without all the added nasties, don’t we?

A’kin Skin Care Lavender & Rose Moisturising Night Cream

Before I go any further, let me just say that I love, love, love A’kin Lavender & Rose Moisturising Night Cream. The scent alone is a winner. So many of the ‘natural’ moisturisers, I’ve been trying recently, smell quite unpleasant but this one is lovely. (Although the A’kin daytime rose-scented one still remains my alltime favourite.) The lavender-scented anti-oxidant Night Time Face Cream includes alpha lipoic acid, Vitamin A, B5, C & E amongst its ingredients and for such a rich cream is really quickly absorbed.

Sometimes I read other peoples’ comments about products and most seem to say that the A’kin moisturisers make their skin feel smoother and look more glowing. Then there are the rave reviewers who enthuse that their fine lines and wrinkles seem to be diminished! Well, I never feel I can conclusively say things like that but I can say without hesitation that my skin definitely feels lovely and soft! And more importantly perhaps, this is a product I WILL be buying again.

As I’ve said before, everything sold by mypure is sulfate free, paraben free & phthalate free so if you’re trying to avoid skincare products which are packed full of chemicals then MyPure is the site to visit.

What is Sea Buckthorn?

I’ve been trying out a new moisturiser called Alva Sanddorn Moisturising Cream, from a range of anti-ageing natural beauty products. The ‘blurb’ says ‘it is an intensive day cream which boosts the protective mechanisms of your Alva Sanddorn Moisturising Creamskin’. Then there’s the sciencey bit which says, in a nutshell, that the cream protects against damaging UV-rays and free radicals. It’s meant to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles and sooth irritated skin but in my case it certainly didn’t have a soothing effect – in fact far from it.

Anyone who’s ever read my various comments on beauty products will know of my love of all things natural as my skin has recently become much more sensitive than it ever used to be. I had high hopes for this moisturiser as I know all about the benefits of Sea Buckthorn, having researched it for another product I tried out. In case you don’t know, Sea Buckthorn plants have little orange berries and have a very distinctive scent. It’s a bit like Marmite though – some people like the smell, others hate it.  Regardless of the smell, Sea Buckthorn is high in provitamin A, vitamin E and fatty acids and so is brilliant for the skin.

Anyway, I digress, I have used the moisturiser three times now and each time, I have ended up with a red and very hot, almost inflamed, face. The first time it happened I gave it the benefit of the doubt and put the red face down to too hot a shower and too much shampoo on my face but when it happened the next day and then a third time running, I knew that the product wasn’t suitable for me. A shame, but hey, you win some, lose some.

Alva Shower GelAnother product I bought from the same site My Pure was the Alva Daily Care Coconut & Lime Shower Gel and that one I am happy to say is lovely. It smells really fresh and invigorating and if it was a little bit cheaper I would buy it much more regularly. As it is, I think it will be limited to when I want to treat myself.

Incidentally, everything sold by mypure is sulfate free, paraben free & phthalate free. To find out about other chemicals you may want to avoid, take a look at the chemical checklist on www.mypure.co.uk .
