Cheesy Christmas Family
With Christmas just around the corner (it really will be here before we know it), those of us who like to plan ahead will be starting work buying Christmas gifts soon.
I don’t want to be too smug here but I actually start really early on in the year – it’s too expensive for me to leave it all till December!! Of course, many of us inevitably end up waiting for the week (or days) before Christmas to finish up our shopping lists, but by doing a bit of early shopping, you can free yourself up to better enjoy the whole Christmassy season.
One thing that can be easier to think about in advance is a gift for the whole family. When you’re buying presents for individual friends and family members, you may prefer to wait a while till you’re sure what they’d like. But if you’re getting a gift the whole family can enjoy throughout the Christmas period, you’re free to have a think and buy well in advance! So here are 5 great gift ideas for the whole family.
1. A Holiday or Short Break
If you’re not too constrained by budgets and want to treat the whole family then a little holiday is certainly something everyone will enjoy. There are any number of options worth considering. For some, it might mean booking a hotel in London for Christmas and the surrounding days; for others, it might mean taking off to a warm or tropical location in the days following Christmas. Whatever the case, this is a great way to enjoy some quality family time.
2. A New Pet
Of course, this is a major investment that lasts well beyond Christmas. But, for those families who are genuinely looking at getting a new pet anyway, what better time than the holidays to turn the concept into a reality? Again, particularly with kids, this gesture will turn this year’s Christmas into one to remember.
3. Christmas Hampers
If you’re looking for something a bit lighter, check out the selection of Christmas hampers at M&S. From fruit baskets, to decadent champagne and sweets, to various jams, jellies, and cookies, there are absolutely loads of options available.
4. Show Tickets
The whole Christmas/New Year period is a popular time for shows, and if you find one the whole family will enjoy, this can be a lovely way to spend an evening. Suitable shows could be traditional holiday shows like The Nutcracker but livelier, darker shows like Les Miserables are also worth thinking about. A night at the theatre is almost always a treat for everyone!
