Nothing beats good old elbow grease! With the right tools and basic cleaning supplies, most stains/surfaces can be conquered with a bit of patience and old fashioned muscle power. It’s also very therapeutic :)

If you have a stubborn stain on your carpet that you haven’t managed to get out use washing up liquid on a toothbrush it works a treat.

Vinegar actually cleans much like an all-purpose cleaner.Cleans the bathtub, toilet, sink, and counter-tops. Use pure vinegar in the toilet bowl to get rid of unsightly rings. Flush the toilet to allow the water level to go down before pouring the undiluted vinegar around the inside of the rim. Scrub down the bowl. You can also mop the floor in the bathroom with a vinegar/water solution. Vinegar will also eat away the soap scum and hard water stains on your fixtures and tile leaving them shiny and beautiful.

use harpic to clean your kettle. I know it might sound odd but it really does get rid of all the limescale.

My cleaning tip: clean as often as possible its easier and you don’t need to use different cleaning product that damage the surface … @alexgirl_14

Sunlight is a very effective stain remover if washing comes through the wash still stained – no need to wash again. Line drying your clothes is much better for the environment (and your utility bills) than tumble drying – stain removal is a bonus!

I cut up old tees and PJs to use as dusters. Usually they’re nice and soft too so perfect for the job. We also use white vinegar on taps and the shower screen as it removes light limescale without the need for chemcicals.

I use a drop of White vinegar and plain water to give my windows a squeaky clean sparkle – its non toxic, cheap and it doesn’t actually smell! If I’ve some cut lemons left over from baking then I add them to the water or use them to rub over the surface of my stainless steel hob.

After cleaning the hob I use a tiny amount of babyoil and gently rub over the surface. Not only does it come up as new but it protects it from my messy cooking.
